Well, this is just infuriating. Being part of a music conversation has literally zero to do with gender. It is about interest and clearly the folks in this conversation are not interested - “I love music but for me it’s more of a personal thing that I don’t really care to spend a lot of time talking about / discussing / researching, etc. I spend most of my time doing that with books and literary things which is a bigger interest of mine.”

Then, frankly, please fuck off. Let the folks genuinely interested in making narcissistic lists get on with their business, wherever they are on the gender spectrum. Yes, it is unfortunate that most of the people who submitted lists were male, but there was nothing preventing women any/everywhere from making a list. Perhaps most frustrating is that all of pitchfork’s articles/reviews are about every facet of an artist: they look at the discography and influences and contemporaries, the micro and macro context of every song/album/artist. So, Ms. Zoladz, if you dont care about that… why are you writing for Pitchfork?
